Summary
In Chapter 6, when Gwen arrives home, Sam tells her that the police came by to talk to her again about the girl they found in the lake. Sam suggests she take a lawyer to talk to the police because he did not like the feeling the police gave him. Even though Gwen considers running again, she tries to calm herself and convince herself not to run.
Gwen decides to tell Sam about her relationship with Melvin, the murders, and the reasons she has been so secretive. She admits that she had been to see her ex-husband that day and that it was the only time she had visited him because he had threatened her and her children.
