Annie tells her psychiatrist how she watched while Gary interviewed her mother about the kidnapping. During the interview, Annie's mother confessed to paying Simon Rousseau to kidnap her daughter and to hiding that fact from the police out of fear of what the loan shark might do to her or her husband if they failed to pay back the money Annie's mother borrowed to pay Simon Rousseau.
