Summary
Beauvoir and Gamache entered Jane’s house and saw that her walls and ceiling were covered with happy face wallpaper and that her floorboards were painted with pink paint. Although it was horribly decorated, Gamache and Beauvoir could not figure out why Jane would have kept her friends out. They found Jane’s paints but were unable to find her easel. They found mouse traps and determined that Yolande and André had set them. They also found a humane trap with a dead mouse in it and determined Jane had set it and was killed before she could release it. Gamache and Beauvoir collect the bodies of the dead mice and put them on the green, to be eaten.
