Point of View
This story is told by an omniscient narrator with the focus on four different major characters. The story is told from the focal points of Sergey, Vica, Regina, and Vadik, the four Russian friends who immigrate to America. Each chapter is focused on the viewpoint of a different character. Three of the thirteen chapters are focuses on each of the main characters. The final chapter is narrated by an omniscient narrator from no particular character’s point of view.
Because each of the main characters has chapters dedicated to his point of view, the reader is able to get to know the personality and outlook of each of the characters. The reader can also see how stories told by each of the characters take on a different meaning through the eyes of different friends.
