Mills Residence

Stella, Jojo, Mama, and Papa live in a two-room home with a kitchen area and a sleeping area. Outside is farmland and a forest. Their style of home seems to be the standard for many black families in Bumblebee.

Cathy’s Candy Store

Stella and her friends visit Cathy’s Candy Store regularly on their way to school. It is neutral territory where both black and white children visit and interact.

The schoolhouse

The black children of Bumblebee all attend a one-room schoolhouse. It boasts limited school supplies and a wood-burning stove for heat.

Kilkenny Pond
