Summary

In Chapter 13, Roy goaded Lucas into giving him more pain medication by telling Lucas their mother had forgotten to give him his dose. Lucas doubted him because he had never known his mother to forget anything, but he could not say no to Roy. Later, Lucas’ mother confronted him about Roy's pain medicine. His mother told him Roy was taking too much of the medicine and that Lucas was not to leave the bottle where Roy could get it.

Later that day, Lucas helped Roy downstairs because Darren, who had difficulty with stairs, had come to visit. They talked alone in the den.
