Summary
Chapter 31 begins the same way Chapters 1 and 10 begin, in December 2008. This time, the voice is Yejide’s as she arrives in Ilesa to attend Akin’s father’s funeral. She hears the people chanting, singing, and crying and thinks about why she was invited to this funeral at all. She thinks about Akin and who is taking care of him now.
Chapter 32 begins back in 1992 from Akin’s perspective - and the chapters have mostly changed to his perspective in Part 3. He relates the story of when Dotun first had sex with Yejide, and how he had planned it out. It had only taken one weekend for Yejide to conceive Olamide with Dotun, and Akin explains how the original plan was for Dotun to visit them every year until they had four children.
