Summary
In Karen’s Dos and Don’ts Guide to Becoming Employee of the Month, she writes about working in Hollywood. She began working as a standup comic and eventually worked on a popular TV show. Along the way, she learned an important lesson: "anyone trying to give you career advice is full of shit, especially if it’s a family member" (199). She argues that it doesn't matter if you fail, that trying is "what sets the tone for your whole life story" (199). Karen's own career had many struggles and setbacks but she refused to give up. She then writes about one of her early jobs: when she was twelve, she worked mucking out horse stalls for a neighbor. The job was way beyond what should have been asked of a twelve-year-old.
