Red Blankets

The red blankets are symbols of death. When Ellen visits the site of the bus bombing in Frankfurt, she is saddened and shocked by how many red blankets are spread out over the remains of the dead.

Documentary

The documentary is a power play. Ellen shows her power by running this documentary despite warnings not to do so. Shah demonstrates his power by threatening the journalist and making some of his sources disappear.

Flowers

The flowers are a symbol of intimidation. Ellen believes Shah has sent her a bouquet of sweet pea, her favorite flower, to let her know that he has access to her and information about her.
