Richard Kenner
Kenner is a 39-year-old professor of geothermal engineering at MIT. He has a PhD in civil engineering from Caltech, graduating at the age of 20, and did his thesis on soil erosion in Nepal. He is a renowned climber who attempted an assault on K2, but was driven back by bad weather. He was also a contender for the U.S. Olympic Ski Team, but didn't make the final cut. He is the director of the MIT Center for Risk Assessment, and acts as a consultant to the EPA, Department of Defense, and Department of the Interior in that capacity.
