Chapters Twenty Three and Twenty Four Summary
Callie wakes, lying on her back with an IV in her arm. She can hear, but not see them. They ask and she admits she is an unclaimed minor. They question the plate in her head, and when she asks, they tell her she is in the infirmary at the institution and again question the plate. Callie recognizes Mrs. Beatty, and tries to remind her of her previous visit with donations as Callie Winterhill, but they've found her gun in the car with her prints and DNA matching the ballistics of the gun that shot the Senator. The doctor adds something to her IV as Beatty leans over and hisses 'I hate liars' into her ear. Then she straightens and welcomes her to the incarceration ward.
