Chapters 12 - 13 Summary

We learn about the history of Hot Seat and the first close up cameraman named Chico. The procedure for Hot Seat was that a host and "victim" (interviewee) are both set up with a clip-on mike. Then a jury of students passes around a hand- held mike and ask questions. The questions are intended to stir things up, probing in a personal way. Stargirl is the guest on Hot Seat. The students who had asked to be on the jury were more aggressive and rude than normally. At first Stargirl froze, like cornered prey, but then reacted as if she were actually in a flaming hot seat. She screamed, and then pantomimed being burned. It was a great performance. As Kevin takes over the interview and things seem to be back to normal, he questions her unusual name. They seem to...
