Chapter 2 Summary

The chapter starts with Hillari Kimball "holding court at the door" of school, and telling Leo and Kevin she believes that Stargirl "is not real...that Stargirl is a plant." Hillari believes that Stargirl has been hired by the school to try to encourage school spirit. Kevin tends to agree and says that they can use the newspaper to expose her, and that if they do, paper ratings will go sky high.

The second day of school Stargirl comes dressed in a "Heidi costume" complete with pigtails, freckles added to her already freckled face and little circles of rouge on her cheeks. In the lunchroom Stargirl takes her time looking around and staring at each person, one at a time. As she comes to the table where Leo and Kevin are sitting Kevin looks at her and says, "Hi Stargirl." She does not...
