Summary
For the first time, Eliana is grateful to have her therapist. In their last session, Dr. Wood encouraged Eliana to practice writing down the hurtful words she has been called so that they can work together to develop strategies to let them go. Eliana stands up to one of the boys who often bullies her on their way to lunch, and she is immensely proud that she does not resort to cruelty or try to pick on him. One of her teachers, Mrs. Boardman, notices her actions and she asks Eliana to follow her to her classroom. She tells her how proud she is that she has the strength to stand up for herself because such confrontations are not easy. She lets Eliana know that it is important that she continues to use her voice and that perhaps she can empower other people...
