Chapter 10, Stardust Summary
Tristran approaches the gap in the wall that leads to Wall and greets the two men that are standing guard. The two men do not recognize Tristran and refuse him entry. Tristran is angr, but is forced to wait in the meadow until the following day. He and Yvaine return to the people that are setting up their stalls and Tristran helps some, accepting food and wine in return, after which he falls asleep quite drunk.
The woman who was the bird approaches Yvaine, who is watching over the sleeping Tristran. The two women speak of Tristran and his nature, then the dark haired woman warns Yvaine that if she were to pass into Wall, she would cease to be a woman, and become stone.
