Chapter 7, At the Sign of the Chariot Summary
The star traveled through a rainy day and comes upon the inn gratefully, though the unicorn will not approach the inn. A woman greets them cheerfully from the doorway and leads the unicorn to the barn, then has her husband carry the star inside by the fire. A bath is prepared and the woman promises to return with food before the star can tell her she does not eat. The woman and her daughter help the star from her bath and lead her to the table where a knife sits. The woman comments on the strength of the star's heart and seems set to do something, when voices outside the inn call for service. The innkeeper seems angry but allows that things can wait.
