Chapter 4, Can I Get There by Candlelight? Summary
Tristran travels farther into Faerie and through the seasons as well. Leaving fall behind for summer then spring, he tires and sleeps. Tristran's dreams are disturbed by a man asking him to dream more quietly. The next morning Tristran finds a small hairy man who offers him breakfast. Introducing himself as Charmed, the man welcomes Tristran to travel with him. Tristran tells Charmed his mission to retrieve the fallen star. Charmed warns Tristran that he should be careful who he tells his task to, but never to lie.
The two walk on and discuss the distance to the star and wind up in a serewood. The serewood captures creatures that wander into it. Charmed is distraught as the only way out of the wood is on a path and the serewood...
