Segregationists
Throughout the text, Reynolds classifies actions, policies, and ideas into three categories: segregationist, assimilationist, or antiracist. Picturing these three classifications as a spectrum, segregationist lies at the far left, with assimilationist in the middle, and antiracist on the far right; essentially, the left side of the spectrum can be considered the most racist, while the right side, aptly named, can be considered the most antiracist. Segregationists are anecdotally defined by Reynolds as "people who hate you for not being like them" (3). Breaking the definition down to its root word, segregation, also helps to define the term; segregationists believe that racial groups should be separated in most, if not all, aspects of life.
Assimilationists
