Act III, Scene 2 Summary

It is the same day, at midnight.

Frank answers the door. It's Kingsley. Frank lets Kingsley and Adolph Gretzl in. Kingsley insists that Frank wake Terry up and have her come downstairs. Kingsley wants Terry to replace Jean. Jean is a movie actress, not a stage actress. Gretzl wants Jean to keep the part because she's beautiful and a movie star. Kingsley reminds Gretzl how terrible rehearsal went. Terry would have to start the next night.

Terry comes down in a nightgown and robe. She looks anything but glamorous. Kingsley asks her to read a few lines for Gretzl. Terry does not do her reading well and Gretzl heads for the door. He tells Kingsley that he's fired. Kingsley asks Gretzl to sell the play to him. Gretzl leaves. Kingsley will have Terry play the lead. He asks her...
