Billy Audubon Dickens
Billy is the narrator and protagonist. He is Belinda’s brother and Summer’s step-brother. Dennis and Christine are his parents.
Billy loves nature and is like his father in that he fights nature's bullies. He helps his father rage his campaign to fight Baxter. He saves swallows from ravens. He takes his fight against environmental bullies and his values into his life at school as he fights bullies in order to defend students who are not able to defend themselves.
Billy's character shows that people have identities that may be unknown to them, but with patience, they will discover what it is and learn how to use it in a manner that leads to success.
