Summary
Chapter 1, wealthy 72-year-old Kiki Pew Fitzsimmons disappeared during a charity event at Lipid House in Palm Beach, Florida. No one remembered seeing her leave, assuming she wandered home drunk. Kiki had been married twice, both husbands now dead. She had two sons, Chance and Chase. The police chief, Jerry Crosby led the search. Kiki's closest friend, Fay Alex Riptoad, pressured him to find her. The women were members of the POTUS Pussies, or Potussies, "a group of Palm Beach women who proclaimed brassy loyalty to the new, crude-spoken commander-in-chief” (7).
Crosby searched the grounds. She was nowhere. Chief caretaker of the Lipid House Tripp Teabull became anxious about negative publicity. Through another groundskeeper, Teabull heard something terrible had happened to Kiki.
