Pursuit of Power

The main plot of Spymaster is animated by the pursuit of power; specifically, the pursuit of power displayed by Oleg Tretyakov and the rest of the Russian forces. Note that the Russian plan, if it were allowed to be carried out to its logical conclusion, is exclusively about the use of power, and not necessarily to any logical end. For example: the many Russian cells and bombs that are hidden throughout the different NATO countries are deployed with the express purpose of eventually triggering a global war, a war that brings the United States into the conflict.
