Kingussie, Scotland
This is the place where the three main characters, Britt, Richard and Florence, finally converge. They all meet at the platform of the train station. Neither is familiar with the place, and they are each there for different reasons. It is historic and a picturesque place, framed by a ring of imposing mountains.
Brittany, France
This is the region after which Brittany, one of the main characters in Spring, is named. It is name is derived from its pre-Norman link to the British Isles. This is a reminder of the shifting concept of indigeneity and the uncertain meaning of what it means to be native to a certain place, and thus what it also means to exclude or forbid the foreign.
