Neither is familiar with the place, and they are each there for different reasons. It is historic and a picturesque place, framed by a ring of imposing mountains.

Brittany, France

This is the region after which Brittany, one of the main characters in Spring, is named. It is name is derived from its pre-Norman link to the British Isles. This is a reminder of the shifting concept of indigeneity and the uncertain meaning of what it means to be native to a certain place, and thus what it also means to exclude or forbid the foreign.
