Chapter Twenty Summary
Tatiana arrives to save Rose from further embarrassment. Escorting Rose into a private room, Tatiana explains that the Death Watch is a non-Dhampir only event and has remained unseen by any Dhampir since select Royalists began the secret society centuries ago back in Russia. Because she has recently lost her own Royal Guardian in the Dhampir assault to resuce Lissa and Christian, Tatiana has mercy on Rose despite Rose's having broken the cult's unblemished history of non-Dhampir knowledge.
Mikhail intercepts Rose and leads her to a Guardian building where Dimitri is being held. Rose questions Mikhail's actions. Why is he being so loyal to her? He reminds her he one day hopes to find his own lost love and turn her from Strigoi back into Dhampir, too. Helping Rose in this sense only helps his own cause as she gains knowledge...
