Chapter Eighteen Summary

Because of their bond, Rose can read Lissa's feelings and knows that Lissa tells her the truth. Dimitri truly does not want to see Rose for unexplained reasons. Rose is jealous of Lissa's new hold on Dimitri's feelings. Dimitri looks to Lissa as his personal savior, but refuses to give any credit or thanks whatsoever to Rose, who engineered the plan and executed it as well. Lissa invites Rose to watch through their bond as Lissa visits with Dimitri to see if she can help determine why it is he is so against ever seeing Rose again.

During a very painful exchange, Rose listens in as Dimitri tells Lissa that he doesn't deserve Rose because of the murders he committed while he was a Strigoi. Lissa begs Dimitri to consider Rose's feelings for him. But he refuses, instead swearing his allegiance...
