Chapter Seventeen Summary

Confusion reigns as the newly-freed Dimitri is dragged away with the Princess Lissa. Separated during the pull-back from the Strigoi stronghold, Rose is kept in the darkness as to her best friend's and former lover's whereabouts as the bond she and Lissa share has been temporarily blocked out due to the ordeal. But with patience and time, Rose is finally able to see through Lissa's eyes once again. There she witnesses a tender scene between Christian, who is in awe of Lissa's new powers, and Lissa, who realizes how much she still cares for Christian despite her growing stature in the Moroi Court.
