Chapter Fourteen Summary

A Royal Court assembly is in progress. The Moroi have eleven members sitting next to Queen Tatiana during the hearing to represent the eleven ruling families, of which Princess Lissa is the last of their kind. A startled and unprepared Rose is asked a series of weighted questions by the Queen about her background, including her self-styled mission of revenge against the Strigoi in Russia after the Strigoi attacked St. Vladimir's Academy, leaving many Moroi dead and the ruling families in jeopardy. The assembled family is impressed by Rose's record of killing at least seven Strigoi and perhaps many more, as well as her advocacy for Moroi learning to defend themselves as well as for the Guardians to lead attacks against the Strigoi as a matter of policy. Without explanation, she is dismissed and the hearing concluded.
