Chapter Eight Summary
The only way Rose can transport the newly-freed Victor via airplane to Las Vegas is by private plane charter because Victor lacks any I.D. Bud, the sleazy car rental owner, directs them to a private pilot. They secure passage through Seattle to Las Vegas with Rose using a credit card to pay the pilot's high fees to not ask questions of his passengers. Rose and companions decide to stay at the Luxor Hotel. They check in and Victor contacts his half-brother Robert Doru, a hermit who lives on the outskirts of Las Vegas in a cabin. Robert agrees to meet with Victor, but only in the city, as Robert is paranoid and wants no one to know precisely where he lives.
