Chapter Three Summary

In Chapter Three, Jill's mother Emily is introduced as Emily helps her daughter pack personal belongings from her dorm room. Rose assists them, carrying boxes. Emily reveals she lives in Detroit during the summer break and is a ballet dancer. Soon thereafter, Rose is headed for Pennsylvania and the Royal Moroi Court, where graduates are given their initial Guardian assignments. Adrian and Lissa accompany Rose on her flight. Adrian invites Rose to meet his parents as well as become reacquainted with Tatiana, his aunt. Alas, Rose and Tatiana have met previously when Tatiana, the Royal Majesty herself of the Royal Moroi Court, warned Rose off of any romantic involvement with her nephew Adrian. As she and Adrian have mutually ignored Tatiana's unsolicited warning, Rose does not look forward to meeting the Queen again.
