Part 4, Gold: Chapters 14-20 Summary
Chapter 14. Saskia has gone into business for herself, something that has brought she and Dagmar closer together on the even of Dagmar's engagement. One day, while working on a new yarn, Saskia learns that her father has arranged for her to meet the king.
Chapter 15. The king inspects Saskia's yarns, but he is clearly not impressed with her unique combination of vegetation and thread. Desperate for his daughter to be declared the king's spinner, the miller claims that Saskia can spin straw into gold. The miller claims that Saskia's mother once told him about a man who did this and created a gold wedding dress. Saskia, however, knows it cannot be done.
Chapter 16. The king locks Saskia in a small room filled with straw and threatens to kill her if she has not turned it all into...
