The Morning and the Evening Summary
Tyler drives up to the hill that oversees Condon's ranch. He calls back Simon and asks where Diane is in the house. Simon answers that it is impossible to reach her and that he is risking his life coming in. The aging sun comes up and knocks off the cellular relay; the phone dies and the conversation is cut short.
Tyler walks toward the ranch but is knocked down by the butt of a rifle. He wakes up later with a bloodied head, locked inside a room somewhere in the ranch's main building. Unable to get out or even move much, he keeps falling in and out of consciousness throughout the day. He wakes up after sundown, happy to have made it through the first day without the Spin.
