Summary
In Chapter 19, Midge gave Brooke information about emancipation to help her get away from her mother. Midge taught her how to identify her triggers and then work on coping with them. Brooke lied to her mother and told her she was already emancipated in order to make it easier for her to get away.
In Chapter 20, Brooke met Jason, a boy Cristin knew. Although the start of their relationship was rocky, they were inseparable after their second date. Brooke learned that Jason was living in a motel because his parents had just gotten divorced. They shared burdens in common because of their unusual circumstances.
