Summary
Chapter 11 - Bernie spends the day with her family. Darleen eventually comes home, having once again been out drinking. Bernie talks to her about how she isn’t helping out around the house or doing anything with her life. Darleen argues that she’s too frustrated and feels like nobody cares about her. Bernie is too busy to help her, and Darleen is exhausted from being the caregiver for their mother. Bernie is annoyed, but feels bad for Darleen and promises to make herself more available. She encourages Darleen to start taking classes to get her GED, and even offers to take care of their mother more so she has more time to use for herself.
Bernie returns home, but Chee is nowhere to be found. Chee comes in much later, exhausted, but still working on the case. He explains that his lead...
