Introduction - Part I, Chapter 5 Summary
Introduction - Blue Van Meer admits to writing about her life during a time of sleeplessness one year after the suicide of Hannah Schneider. Blue, like her father, is naturally idealistic and a free thinker. Blue is in college when she receives a phone call from Jade, who apologizes to Blue, saying that Blue had nothing to do with what happened to Hannah. During her Greek and Roman Epics class, Blue has the sudden urge to write, and she leaves class to do so.
Part 1, Chapter 1 - Blue begins by telling about her mother's death. Blue's mother, Natasha Alicia Bridges Van Meer, dies in 1992 in Mississippi.
