Summary
In Chapter 1, the law firm of Malloy & Malloy was in trouble. Its patriarch, Bolton Malloy, was in prison for killing his wife. In Bolton’s absence, his competitive sons, Rusty and Kirk were bankrupting the firm. The brothers agreed on nothing and had split the firm into two physical sides with one half of the building dedicated to Rusty and his staff, while the other was dedicated to Kirk and his staff. Diantha Bradshaw, the unofficial third partner, ran interference between the two and attempted to provide some semblance of management.
In Chapter 2, Rusty was involved in a trial that was not going well.
In Chapter 3, Rusty told his staff that Luther Bancroft, the lawyer for the defendant in his case, had called him the night before and offered one million dollars to settle the case. He refused the settlement. Rusty...
