Chapters 69 to 70 Summary and Analysis

In Chapter 69, Richard is in the highlands above teh Nareef Valley and looks out. His love for Kahlan drives him. He needed to banish the chimes to heal her. he needed to outhink Joseph Ander. Richard decided to do what Joseph Ander chided the wizards to do, but something they could not see. He hoped his strength would be enough. Richard draws a grace, then a star and calls the chimes forth. The chimes came and Richard lowered his arms and then called the Subtractive side of his power, which caused black lightning. Rocks disentegrated, water churned, the lake started to empty and fire went across. Richard offers the chimes his soul and a figure starts to appear. It is a robed figure.
