What is gender dysphoria? Give some examples of it from the book.

Students should be able to define gender dysphoria, in their own words, as the discomfort that one feels at the incongruence between one's innate sense of gender and one's assigned sex. Examples from the book include how Jackson feels about his body, including the size of his chest and the width of his hips.

Explain the difference between the terms "transgender" and "transsexual".

Students should be able to not only define these terms but should also be able to note the historical and social implications of each term. They should not that transgender is the currently preferred term and that many people find transsexual to be out of date or offensive.
