Trans Rights
Part of Jackson's mission with this book is to raise awareness about trans issues in order to further trans rights in our society. Historically, trans people have been forced to live in secrecy or to never reveal their true selves. Jackson notes the great strides that previous generations of trans activists have taken in order to make it possible for him to live his life. However, he also writes about the many violations of trans rights that are allowed to persist to this day. In a sidebar in Chapter Twenty-One, Jackson outlines some of the discriminations against trans people that are currently allowed in the majority of the states in the US.
