"My bed"

This is the primary physical setting from the poem. The speaker establishes in the very first line that he is hurrying there, eager to lie down and get some rest. He "abides" there for the rest of the poem (5). Enough description is provided to allow readers to imagine this as a standard bedroom, dark at night, and ready for sleep, though it never comes for the narrator.

"My head"

In the third line, the speaker introduces another setting for the poem. Although he is physically still in the bed, he goes on a "journey in my head" to think about his beloved (3). The mind thus becomes a physical space in the poem, a setting which allows for dynamic examination of the self and feelings even as the body remains at rest.
