Summary

Chapter 32 begins with Iris and Grandma in Skagway, their next stop on the cruise. Iris writes her parents and brother a note on a postcard apologizing for leaving, saying she “just had to find the whale” (199). That night, Iris wakes up to see “Grandma’s bed was empty” (200). She goes to the customer service desk to ask for help, but feels vibrations that indicate music coming from somewhere; she follows the music. She finds Grandma signing karaoke for a rapt crowd signing along with her (203).

Chapter 33, from the perspective of Blue 55, finds him playing with a group of dolphins, who accept him regardless of the fact that they “didn’t sing the same songs” (207).
