Book III Chapters 11, 12 and 13 Summary

Jonas and Gabe go back to Claire's cottage. Gabe sits with the dying Claire while Jonas uses his power to find Trademaster. Once Jonas sees where Trademaster is, he sends Jonas across the river to find and kill the Trademaster. As Gabe swims across the river, he keeps telling himself that he cannot kill anyone. When Gabe reaches the other side, Trademaster is standing on the bank waiting for him.

Trademaster greets Gabe. As they talk, Gabe veers into Trademaster. This helps Gabe realize how to stop Trademaster without having to physically attack him. Gabe starts telling Trademaster about some of the people with whom he made trades, and how he didn't ruin their lives. As Gabe does this, Trademaster and his tools become a pile of junk and Trademaster disappears altogether.
