Book II Chapters 13 and 14 Summary
Einar sees Claire off for her climb. She has a backpack with her supplies, including salve and medical supplies from Alys. Einar has told Claire what caused his injuries so she is prepared for it. He has also been mapping out each step and grasp for her so that she knows what to expect during her climb. As Claire climbs, she thinks about each thing that Einar told her during their training together.
Book II Chapters 13 and 14 Analysis
Claire's journey out of the village represents Einar's second chance of getting out of the village. While he cannot physically climb out of the village again, Einar helping Claire to get out and to find her son is symbolic of Einar's second chance.
