Summary

Chapter 30 begins with Jared back home, still hallucinating from the end of the last chapter and trying to keep calm. Later that night, a voice in his head tells him his mother is hurt. He sees a vision of Baby, his dog. The next morning, his mother gives him a holster for his gun.

Chapter 31 is a brief chapter talking about the division of a human body into different dimensions and how “universes are stubbornly separate unless you are a Trickster” (222).

Chapter 32 sees Jared talking to Dylan at school, who has just quit hockey, disappointing his parents. At home, he guiltily looks at messages from Nana Sophia and considers that things are getting better with his mom now that she “was off meth” (226). They eat dinner together and he thanks her for how she dealt with David.
