Summary

Chapter 20 is a brief chapter discussing how humans share many traits with each other and all other living beings.

Chapter 21 resumes in May. Jared’s mom has disappeared, and he messages Nana Sophia to ask if he can stay with her over the summer. Jared believes his mother is punishing him for paying his dad’s bills by making him pay for hers too. At school, Sarah comes over and asks to stay with Jared; he tells her the power is out at his house, but she can still stay. They skip school and go home together.
