Summary

Pen starts at El Pequeño Toro and meets Claudia, another employee. Pen is quickly annoyed by David, the manager’s nephew. He is lazy and does nothing to help the two girls while they work hard running the drive-through.

In Chapter 15, Chloe stops by to cheer Pen up after her first day of work and tease her about her crush on Xander. Pen uncharacteristically admits how much she likes Xander.

In Chapter 16, Xander takes Pen to make pizza on their date with an elderly neighborhood woman, Signora Caterina. She tells him that she feels hopeful when others need her because it gives her a motive to be strong for herself as well. Xander feels the comfort of finally knowing Pen and allowing himself to open up to her as well. He shares about how hard it was to speak with an accent...
