Chapter 24 Summary
Alexandra and Jordan travel to Hawthorne the following day. When they arrive at Hawthorne, Alexandra is pleased to finally be home again but notices that Jordan isn't as happy as she is. He tells her that he never liked Hawthorne as much as his other estates, which were cozier. But Hawthorne was the closest estate to a town, and going to another estate would just be more travel and they would be too secluded from the convenience of a town or the security of his staff.
When they get inside, Alexandra tries to avoid Jordan and claims she is too tired to eat and wants to go straight to bed. When he agrees to retire to bed as well, she agrees to eat, but eats far too much, hoping that stalling will make Jordan forget about wanting to sleep with her. When she...
