Chapter 20 and 21 Summary

Carstairs goes to see Jordan, along with many other of his friends. He tells Jordan all about what his wife had been doing while he was supposedly dead. She was playing the game the proper way and succeeding well beyond anyone's expectations of her. This infuriates Jordan and makes him even more upset that people refer to his wife as Alex. Jordan considers divorcing her, but a divorce could take years, and he wants an heir. He decides that he will keep Alexandra as his wife, and she will become the dutiful wife that he desires, either by her own will or by sheer force.

People constantly arrive throughout the morning, wanting to see Jordan with their own eyes. When the coast is clear, Alexandra goes down to the foyer and is told that her husband wants to meet with her...
