Chapter 22 Summary

Darcy travels to the nursing home determined to get a job. Darcy tries every attempt at persuasion but still the director turns her down. A patient tells her not to come back. Not deterred, Darcy decides to have breakfast at the Muffin Man and look through the classifieds.

Darcy observes a woman that reminds her of the storybook character, Madeline. She watches the woman and listens in as she makes plans with the person she spoke with on her cell phone. Moments later, Ethan enters the café, and Darcy invites him to sit. Ethan declines explaining he is meeting someone. Darcy realizes her Madeline character was talking to Ethan.
