Chapter 12 Summary
Darcy's situation continues to deteriorate on her thirtieth birthday. It is a day of firsts. It is Darcy's first experience with morning sickness, and her first time not being greeted with a big "happy birthday" and her Pillsbury sticky buns with pink candles. Darcy vomits in the bathroom and then spends a few moments lying on the tiled floor dramatically moaning for an unresponsive Marcus before crawling back into bed. As she lies there, her mind returns to her obsession with Rachel and Dex. When Marcus wakes up, Darcy complains about her morning sickness. She then wishes herself a happy birthday. Marcus promises Darcy he will come through when she returns from work.
Darcy is uplifted when Claire gives her gifts of yellow roses and a green crystal heart on a silk cord from Baccarat. When Claire takes Darcy to lunch, she agrees...
