Chapter 10 Summary

Darcy manipulates Marcus into accompanying her to her first prenatal visit. Darcy's name is called, but Marcus remains seated, adamant he is not going in with her. When another pregnant woman looks at Marcus with disapproval, Darcy snaps at Marcus under her breath. Marcus rises, following her to the examination room. Darcy regrets choosing a female doctor when she sees that her doctor, Jan, is taller and has bigger breasts than she does. After a short question and answer about Darcy's medical history and last period, Jan tells Darcy her due date is May second. Darcy says she hopes the date is off as the second is her ex-fiancé's birthday. Jan assures Darcy that few babies are actually born on their due date. Darcy questions why that happens and the doctor pauses before she answers. Darcy muses that Jan would have answered...
